Calling all female entrepreneurs! We have some exciting, upcoming news and events which you may be interested in. Including the new innovative programme ACORNS, opening calls for the Female Competitive Start Fund and the upcoming National Women’s Enterprise Day 2015.
ACORNS (Accelerating the Creation of Rural Nascent Start-ups)
Designed specifically for early stage female entrepreneurs living outside the administrative city boundaries of Dublin, Cork, Limerick, Galway and Waterford. The intention is to provide up to 48 entrepreneurs with the knowledge, support and networking opportunities to meet and even exceed their current aspirations.
The programme will run from September 2015 until March 2016. Selected participants will be those who, on a competitive basis, best demonstrate their potential to advance their businesses and their commitment to fully engage in the initiative.

How to apply
Register your interest on the website www.acorns.ie in the first instance and you will be sent an application form by email. Complete the application on your system and return it to ACORNS either by email attachment or by post to 6 James’s Terrace, Malahide, Co Dublin. Application Forms can also be sent and received by post.
Please contact ACORNS on 01 845 0770, if you would like a form posted to you or if you have any difficulties in registering online. Closing dates for receipt of completed applications is the 11th September 2015.
Female Competitive Start Fund
The Female Competitive Start Fund Opens 11 November and closes 25 November.
The purpose of the Competitive Start Fund is to accelerate the growth of start-up companies that have the capability to succeed in global markets. The fund is designed to enable those companies reach key commercial and technical milestones.
All applications to the Female Competitive Start Fund must be made via the Enterprise Ireland online application system during call open dates. More information can be found here.
National Women’s Enterprise Day
National Women’s Enterprise Day 2015 will take place on October 21st and 22nd at Galway Bay Hotel, Salthill, Galway.
National Women’s Enterprise Day aims to inspire, motivate and support women across the country in running their own business.
The aim of National Women’s Enterprise Day is to encourage even more women to set up their own businesses and to increase national recognition of the essential role played by Ireland’s female entrepreneurs. The event consists of a variety of developmental support actions, including inspiring speakers, information provision, exhibition of state supports for enterprise, facilitated business networking and one to one business mentoring.
